Abinadi’s Message to Noah and his Priests

- Have you taught the commandments to the people? If you had, the Lord would not have sent me.

- The Law of Moses must be kept for now, but there will come a time when it will no longer be needed.

- Salvation does not come by the law alone: atonement is essential.

- The law was given because of the stubbornness of the people.

- The law was misunderstood; the people did not realize that salvation comes only through divine redemption.

- Moses and other prophets foretold of a Messiah who would redeem his people.

- The prophets taught that God himself would take upon himself a mortal body, be resurrected, and be oppressed.

- Isaiah taught of the Lord’s suffering, his offering, and his intercession for transgressors.
- Mosiah 15:1
- God himself will come down to redeem his people.
- Mosiah 15:2-4
- The Messiah will be will be both Father and Son, the united Eternal Father of heaven and earth.

- God does not yield to temptation, and allows himself to be mistreated by his people.
- Mosiah 15:6
- Despite performing many miracles, he will be silent lead like a sheep to a shearer.
- Mosiah 15:7
- He will be lead to be crucified, and will die as the will of Son is swallowed in the will of the Father.
- Mosiah 15:8
- God thereby breaks the bands of death, intercedes for humanity, and in merciful compassion, stands to meet and satisfy the demands of justice by taking upon himself their sins.

- When this offering for sin has been made you will see his seed; who will His seed be?
- Mosiah 15:11
- Those who have listened to the prophets and believed in the Lord’s redemption, looking forward to the remission of their sins are His seed.
- Mosiah 15:12–13
- Those whose sins He bore—including the prophets of old—are His seed.
- Mosiah 15:14–17
- His seed publishes salvation and peace, and their feet have been and ever will be beautiful, wherever they go.
- Mosiah 15:18
- The Lord himself—the Redeemer—is likewise beautiful as he brings good tidings.
- Mosiah 15:19
- If it weren’t for the His redemption, mankind would be lost; but the dead will indeed be resurrected because the Son reigns.
- Mosiah 15:21–23
- The first resurrection is the resurrection of Christ, when all the righteous who will dwell with God will resurrect.
- Mosiah 15:24–25
- Little children and those who have died in ignorance prior to the coming of Christ.
- Mosiah 15:26–27
- The sinner who die in their sins having willfully and knowingly rebelled against God cannot be redeemed.
- Mosiah 15:28-31
- The salvation of the Lord will be declared abroad, leading to rejoicing in all the ends of the earth as Zion is built.
- Mosiah 16:1
- Everyone will confess the justice of God’s judgement when they see the salvation of the Lord eye to eye.
- Mosiah 16:2–3
- The wicked, having become carnal, sensual, and devilish, will be cast out because of their refusal to hear the Lord’s voice.
- Mosiah 16:4–5
- God redeems humanity, unless they persist in carnal ways of sin, rebelling against God, in which case it is as though there were no redemption.
- Mosiah 16:6
- Were it not for the coming of Christ, there could be no redemption.
- Mosiah 16:7–8
- Christ’s death enables the resurrection, thereby conquering death and the grave.
- Mosiah 16:9
- He is the endless light and life of the world.
- Mosiah 16:10-11
- In an immortal, incorruptible state, we will be brought to the judgement of God, and obtain either endless life and happiness or damnation.
- Mosiah 16:12
- The damned will have lived according to their own carnal wills, rejecting the Lord’s mercy, and failing to repent.
- Mosiah 16:13–15
- You should repent, and teach the people that the Law of Moses is a shadow of the redemption that comes only in and through Christ the Lord, the very Eternal Father.
