However, the Lamanites had not come to just conquer the Nephites. They intended to totally annihilate them. They had therefore selected Ammonihah over near the western wilderness to begin the annihilation process. We learn from verse 9 that they killed every man, woman and child in Ammonihah and reduced the city to ruins. Then they captured a lot of prisoners from the nearby towns and headed back along the southern wilderness toward the headwaters of the Sidon River.
