Verses 17-35 appear to be a poem. These particular verses (20-25) are a psalm of praise and thanksgiving. There is a beauty and spirit in good religious poetry and music that lifts the soul. The honest in heart could hardly read Nephi’s psalm, taste its spirit, and then be critical of the Book of Mormon. Inspired poetry and music are especially attractive to the Spirit and do much to rake the spiritual level of our worship services. (See D&C 25:12.)
