Worms are creatures said to eat “them like wool” and to cover someone brought down to the grave. “The worm shall eat them like wool,” while righteousness shall be forever and salvation continues “from generation to generation” (2 Nephi 8:8).
When pomp is brought down to the grave and the noise of viols is not heard, “the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee” (2 Nephi 24:11). Bodies of men, women, and children left upon the face of the land became “a prey to the worms of the flesh” (Ether 14:22).
