Thunder is “terrible thunder, insomuch that it did shake the whole earth as if it was about to divide asunder” during a “great and terrible tempest” (3 Nephi 8:6). At the time that “he shall yield up the ghost,” there shall be “thunderings and lightnings for the space of many hours” (Helaman 14:21).
The earth shall “shake and tremble,” and rocks above and beneath the earth shall be broken up (Helaman 14:21). In the land northward, “the whole face of the land was changed” because of the tempest, whirlwinds, thunderings, lightnings, and great quaking (3 Nephi 8:12).
