Sanctuary

Sanctuary is a place where people assemble to worship God. At Sidom, people “began to assemble themselves together at their sanctuaries to worship God before the altar” (Alma 15:17). Alma and Amulek preached repentance in temples, sanctuaries, and synagogues built “after the manner of the Jews” (Alma 16:13).

Some people said, “We have built sanctuaries, and we do assemble ourselves together to worship God” (Alma 21:6). A king granted the Amalekites permission “that they should build sanctuaries, that they may assemble themselves together to worship him” (Alma 22:7). A decree gave people “free access to their houses, and also their temples, and their sanctuaries” (Alma 23:2).
