Prayer is calling upon God in mercy, supplication, and continued devotion. Amulek told his brethren to “cry unto him for mercy” and to “continue in prayer unto him” (Alma 34:17-19).
Amulek instructed people to pray in their fields, houses, and over their households “both morning, mid-day, and evening,” as well as over crops and flocks (Alma 34:20-25). He also said to “pour out your souls in your closets, and your secret places, and in your wilderness” (Alma 34:26).
Enos kneeled before his Maker and cried “in mighty prayer and supplication for mine own soul” throughout the day and into the night (Enos 1:4). Amulek told his brethren to let their hearts be “drawn out in prayer unto him continually” for themselves and those around them (Alma 34:27).
