Candle is a source of light named during the darkness that followed the destruction in the land. The people could have “no light, because of the darkness, neither candles, neither torches” (3 Nephi 8:21).
They also could not kindle fire with their “fine and exceedingly dry wood,” and there could not be “any light at all” (3 Nephi 8:21).
