Agriculture is the tilling of land and the planting and raising of grain, fruit, and other crops. A group “gathered together all manner of seeds of every kind,” including seeds of grain and fruit (1 Nephi 8:1). After carrying seeds by ship, they “did begin to till the earth” and plant them, and the seeds “did grow exceedingly” (1 Nephi 18:6; 18:24).
The people of Nephi “did till the land, and raise all manner of grain, and of fruit,” along with flocks and herds (Enos 1:21). Another people tilled the ground with seeds of “corn, and of wheat, and of barley,” as well as neas, sheum, and fruit seeds (Mosiah 9:9). A ruler caused men to till the ground and raise grain and fruit of every kind (Mosiah 10:2-4).
Jared and his brother gathered “the seed of the earth of every kind” with their families and flocks (Ether 1:41). They carried seeds of every kind into the valley of Nimrod with their flocks, fish, and swarms of bees (Ether 2:1-3).
