Moroni’s concluding chapter is directed again to a future audience, in this case to “my brethren, the Lamanites.” When Moroni closed his father’s record, he did so with a firm eye on the future history of the record. Now he closes his own record and prepares to place it in the earth. Once again, he focuses on the future. Just as his father had directed his last words to the future Lamanites (Morm. 7), so does Moroni.
Chronology: Four hundred and twenty years from the time of Christ correlates to A.D. 411 in the correlation used in this commentary.
