“When we begin to follow a path that will lead us to ultimate destruction and a wider spiritual separation from the Father, if we yield to the power and influence of the Holy Ghost, it will work on our hearts and souls to motivate and direct us to return to the path of the Father, to repent and cleanse our lives before the Lord. The essence of the purifying attributes of the Holy Ghost reside within us and entice us to cleanse our natural selves through repentance. … Yielding to the Holy Ghost and its influence will provide us the strength we need to bring true repentance into our lives” (Pew, “‘Yield Your Heart to God,’” 212).
