Mormon’s epistle to his son Moroni teaches him candidly and unequivocally children are alive in Christ through the Atonement and cannot sin, hence there is no need for baptism until they become accountable for their actions. Baptizing little children is be mockery before God and denies the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. Mormon speaks of the blessings of the remission of sins and encourages Moroni to pray for the prideful Nephites that they might repent. We are not given to understand who within Moroni’s circle is guilty of advocating infant baptism; we are simply favored with a doctrinal treatise of profound importance in countering such a practice.
