“I Am Mindful of You Always in My Prayers”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

What a testimony concerning the love of a father for his son! Mormon, the great abridger of the Book of Mormon, is the epitome of a loving and devoted father. His tenderness and love flow from the words of his epistle to his son. It is little wonder that Moroni preserves this priceless document with tender care over the years and now engraves the words on the plates for his future readers. Mormon addresses Moroni as his beloved son, for the young man is indeed greatly loved and dear to his father’s heart. He rejoices that the Lord has called him to be a servant in this most holy and sacred work. He not only rejoices over the work of the ministry but that the Lord is mindful of Moroni and has called him to be a disciple, even like his father and the Twelve who were called as disciples during the visit of the resurrected Lord (see 3 Nephi 5:13). Mormon speaks of his constant prayers in behalf of his son that he’ll remain safe in the Lord through the endurance of faith. These verses set an example for all parents regarding the expression of love to their children. As parents this should be our desire, goal, and prayer for each child—oh, the joy of righteous children—for this is the joy of our Heavenly Father and Savior for Their sons and daughters.
