“They Were Drunken with Anger”

Brant Gardner

The war continued over several days, and Moroni describes the combatants as being “drunken with anger”—almost certainly in shock, despair, and frenzy. Apparently they did not foresee any way of saving their lives and had given up any hope of doing so. They were possessed by fury and bloodlust, assuring that they would pursue this war to its terrible end.
