Here we have another example where the subordinate conjunction that has a resultive meaning (‘with the result that’). Such usage is somewhat unexpected for speakers of modern English, so there is a tendency to replace the resultive that with and, as here in Ether 14:30 where the 1841 British edition made the replacement.
