Although Moroni does not say so, it would not be surprising if the high priest were Gilead’s relative. Given the history of intrafamilial murders for the Jaredites, it seems plausible that this is another assassination by a relative. However, the high priest is quickly murdered in turn by another member of the conspiracy, possibly also a relative. At this point begins the story of Lib2, a man whose namesake appeared in the Jaredite king-list almost four hundred years earlier (Ether 1:17–18, 10:18).
