It is obvious that Ether told the Jaredites the highlights of the great prophetic history of the world which was given to the brother of Jared. Ether commenced with the creation of the world and made it clear that the Great Flood covered the entire earth, but as the waters receded from what is now called the western hemisphere, the Lord set it aside as his promised land. He consecrated it as the land where the inhabitants must serve the Lord in righteousness. He said it would be on this land that the New Jerusalem would descend from heaven after the sanctification of the earth.
