Moroni closes his exposition upon the things he has learned. He will complete his account of the demise of the Jaredite nation shortly, but wishes to give his blessing and counsel to his future readers before doing so. It is instructive that he shares his epiphany with us—that he has seen the Lord Jesus in person and has received directly from the Lord the words of wisdom he discloses. Moroni is not just a third-person raconteur of the history of the Jaredites; he has been instructed directly by the Son of God concerning the words he should pass on to posterity. Is that not a compelling reason to listen and heed, ponder and apply? Is that not the agenda that we have before us: to study in faith, ask God with sincerity of heart to confirm our understanding, and then go forward in the strength of the Lord to do our part in building up the kingdom of God? Let us do so with devotion and uncompromising valor—and with gratitude for the blessing of having the Book of Mormon as a confirming witness of the verity of these things.
