Redaction: Com’s response to the prophet sounds much like Shule’s (Ether 7:23–27). The people grow wicked, so Yahweh sends prophets to call them to repentance. The people turn on the prophets; but Com, like Shule, protects them and is blessed for his efforts. The parallels between the two should not be seen as Moroni’s poverty of imagination but as his overriding purpose. The kings’ activities are relevant only if Moroni can turn them into spiritual lessons.
Chronology: Com reigned from 440 to 410 B.C. according to the thirty-year average.
