Com’s resistance to these robbers fails, Moroni’s signal that Jaredites are beginning their end. It takes another two hundred years—a strikingly terrible parallel to the time between the appearance of the final Gadiantons among the Nephites and the Nephites’ destruction (4 Ne. 1:24), even though they are not explicitly mentioned until fifty years later (4 Ne. 1:41–42). Possibly the parallel number of years is not coincidental.
