Redaction: Like other moralizing statements in Jaredite history, this one is probably Moroni’s, especially since it reinforces his great theme that righteousness will result in national prosperity because of Yahweh’s blessing on the land. When they walk uprightly before Yahweh, they prosper and “never could be a people more blessed than were they.” When they obey Yahweh, the promise of the land blesses them. Of course, when they cease to walk uprightly before Yahweh, a curse will fall upon them, as it did during the great drought.
