Morianton becomes an exception to Moroni’s model. Although Morianton is unrighteous, he is not afflicted with poverty but instead achieves prosperity for himself and his people. This exception to the rule supplies further evidence that, although Moroni is molding history, he is not forcing it into a mold. (See commentary accompanying Ether 10:3.)

Chronology: According to the thirty-year average, Morianton reigned from approximately 770 to 740 B.C.
