Morianton is a popular king, but not a righteous one, as marked by his “many whoredoms.” (See commentary accompanying Ether 10:5.) Morianton’s family and political inheritance came from the worldly Riplakish, and his years “on the outside” were quite likely spent among pagans. It is no surprise that he returns a pagan.
