Omer returns to the throne, thus allowing the king-list to go smoothly from Shule to Omer to Emer. Akish, of a different lineage, does not appear on the list. When Omer’s lineage returns to power, Akish’s reign would have been obliterated from the official record.
This return of the exile to the throne has a parallel in later Maya history. A stela indicates that Tikal’s twenty-first ruler, Wak Chan K’awiil returned from exile to take the throne in A.D. 527.
