Moroni is inspired to present the account of Jared, Jared’s daughter, and Akish—with their pernicious strategy of intrigue and murder—so that we can understand how such conspiracies develop and expand. We should hearken to the word of God as given in the scriptures and by our living prophets so we may discern and overcome evil wherever it emerges and to do good continually. There can be no doubt that the Lord will destroy the wicked. The loss of life is one thing, for all must die. The loss of one’s soul is everything. The Lord will keep His promises. We will be destroyed if we do not repent.
