The internecine war escalates. The official record of Shule’s lineage says that he was rescued “as he was about to [be] put… to death.” It seems unusual, and therefore historically suspicious, that this execution was to occur at night, especially in light of the record of keeping royal captives for hostages. I think it more likely that, rather than rescuing their king from imminent assassination, the rescuers used this cover story for the raid and that Shule’s life was not truly in danger.
