The brother of Jared had his vision upon a mountain, like others have had, including Moses (Moses 1:1, 27–28), Nephi (1 Nephi 18:3), and Peter, James, and John (Matthew 17:1, 9; D&C 63:21), to name a few. The brother of Jared was commanded to write down and hide up the description of his vision. It was prohibited for this record to be made known until after the Atonement was completed. Moroni inserted this editorial comment: “I have written upon these plates the very things which the brother of Jared saw.” They are written on the sealed portion of the plates. Greater things were never shown to anyone.
