“The Lord Came Down and Talked with the Brother of Jared”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

In the Valley of Nimrod God revealed Himself to the Brother of Jared, surrounded by a cloud. Not the dark mass in which electric forces are concentrated and which manifest themselves in blinding, destructive lightning flashes and terrifying, rolling, rumbling, thunder claps; but rather the softly falling, friendly evening shades, which enable mortal eye to view the setting sun as the most glorious wonder of nature. (See 1 Kings 19:9-13).

We note that whenever God reveals Himself in person to man, He appears as a man. And this is true of every divine personal revelation of God on record, from the time He walked with Adam in the Garden of Eden where our progenitor was listening to hear His voice (41). As the poet will have it: "Every bush alive with God." But, nevertheless, the God of Creation, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of Jesus Christ, His Beloved Son, has individuality and personality, as His children have.
