"Kish" is the name given to one of the old Jaredite kings (Ether 1:18-19). But according to John Heinerman, it goes back even further into antiquity than this: "Kish was the seat of the first Sumerian dynasty after the Flood" (located not far from the later Babylon, just a little to the southeast), not to mention the name given to the first dynasty of Sumerian kings.
