For both father and son, original author and concluding writer, the thought and message are the same. This work is directed to a future generation, and both men feel it most deeply in relation to their people’s descendants. Both Mormon and Moroni address their final words to those future descendants, desiring “that their prayers may be answered according to their faith, and may God the Father remember the covenant which he hath made.”
Text: The book of Mormon ends here. What Moroni next writes is not a conclusion to his father’s work but an addition to it.
