Moroni was concerned, again (see Mormon 8:12, 17, and the final sentence of the title page to the Book of Mormon), that people in the last days would find imperfections in this sacred record and therefore belittle it. In his humble apology for mistakes that may be found, he gave some sage advice to critics: “Condemn me not because of mine imperfection, … but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been.”
Nephites used a modified form of Egyptian in their written records.11 Moroni made an unusual claim: Had they used Hebrew, he felt, there would have been no imperfections in the record. Could that suggest that Hebrew is a remnant of the pure language of God or at least related to it in some way?
