“The Sword of Vengeance”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Spoken of here is a mighty weapon. In the hands of the Lord, it is terrible. It hangeth heavily over the doers of iniquity. It was forged in the fires of righteousness because of wickedness. Its keen blade and sharp point pierce to the inmost parts. The Wielder of that Sword is the King of all the Earth. He uses it against the devil to protect His Majesty, and to prepare a path before His people, unto whom He says: Seek not vengeance to recompense evil by doing evil; seek not to destroy that which ye cannot build; seek not to take that which ye cannot give. "Vengeance is mine, and I will repay.")5

"O ye pollutions, ye hypocrites, ye teachers, who sell yourselves for that which will canker...why are you ashamed to take upon you the Name of Christ?...Yea, why do ye build up your secret abominations to get gain, and cause that widows should mourn before the Lord, and also orphans to mourn before the Lord, and also the blood of their fathers and their husbands to cry unto the Lord from the ground, for vengeance upon your heads? Behold, the Sword of Vengeance hangeth over you; and the time soon cometh that He avengeth the blood of the Saints upon you, for He will not suffer their cries any longer."
