Here, Moroni identifies some specific aspects of modern life that he’s been able to glimpse in his vision of the future. He knows that when the Book of Mormon comes forth, it will be judged by a society that is prideful, rich, and corrupt. He particularly targets the love of money as the cancer that rots this society, which will neglect the poor. (Since the Book of Mormon came forth in a time when the United States was first emerging as a nation but one that would become the wealthiest country on earth, these seem prophetic words indeed.)
