“It Shall Come in a Day When the Power of God Shall Be Denied”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

In that day when miracles no longer "shall follow them that believe," and sham and deceit shall take their place, these things shall be heard as one from the dead. The world conditions that shall mark that time are occasions that bring fear and trembling. They fathom the depths into which men plunge in following after the pseudo-joys and follies of the world. Even in the church that men build up, pride and vanity will usurp the place of humility and meekness. Secret combinations shall shed the blood of the innocent, and the guilty shall devour the guiltless. Crime, degradation, and filth, shall pollute the earth, and waters from the stinking springs of iniquity shall cover the earth, deep as an ocean, with their impurities. Not only that, but many shall seek to excuse their iniquity by lying and deceiving, and all manner of abominations. In their wickedness they shall say, "Do this, or do that, it mattereth not, for when overtaken by the Lord's own, He will excuse a little folly and uphold us at the last day." O, how mistaken they will be. Their pretexts and their excuses therefore will find them in the gall of bitterness and in the bonds of iniquity. At the last day they will be the slaves of passion, the victims of corruption.
