These prophets also prayed for Joseph Smith, the person who would bring the work to light. Mormon had already added the small plates of Nephi to his work, so presumably Moroni had read Nephi’s discourse on the Book of Mormon’s coming forth (1 Ne. 13:39–41) and Lehi’s discourse to his son Joseph about the person who would bring forth the book (2 Ne. 3:11–17). These were probably some of the records Moroni had in mind when he wrote that the prophets had prayed for the person who would “bring these things forth.”
