“That Awful Fear of Death Which Fills the Breasts of All the Wicked”
The Spirit of the Lord that fills the hearts of the righteous brings comfort, peace, and hope of a glorious resurrection to those who face death. “Those that die in me,” declared the Lord, “shall not taste of death, for it shall be sweet unto them” (D&C 42:46). In contrast, the wicked have no such hope or peace, and as a result face the prospects of death with trepidation, unease, even fear. It is for this reason that the Lord in this dispensation urged us to “weep for the loss of them that die, and more especially those that have not hope of a glorious resurrections ... And they that die not in me, wo unto them, for their death is bitter.” (D&C 42:45, 47.)
