However, Mormon was depressed: "I was without hope, for I knew the judgments of the Lord which should come upon them." No matter if disasters, one after another, almost overwhelmed them, they refused to repent, and call upon Him Who had created them, that He might give them succor according to the hour and the power of their need. They would fight for their lives, Mormon says, evidently thinking that life, however bitter, was the only thing worth the fight.
