The Nephites, emanating confidence in themselves became of the victories gained by them in the last two struggles with the Lamanites-and therein overestimating their own strength-were convinced that they could, by a might all their own, overcome and vanquish their unyielding foe.
The Nephites congregated all their forces in the Land Desolation, and from there as a base for operations invaded the Land Southward.
