“There Was a Great Division Among the People”
How fitting and how terribly prophetic and symbolic this is! The great Millennium—the thousand-year reign of our Lord and Savior which lies ahead—will eventually be brought to a close because of the rise of those who begin to deny their God, those who deny and defy that which is of God (see D&C 29:22; compare Jacob 5:77). Interestingly enough, President George Q. Cannon suggested that the Millennium will come to a close partly because men and women will begin to depart from the principles of consecration and stewardship (see JD 16:120).
