Mormon declares a very specific “wo” against those who profit financially by promulgating philosophies that deny Christ’s mission. They are committing priestcraft, and the Nephites had long struggled against this heresy. Mormon would have understood from his sources the close connection between the Gadiantons and priestcraft. His experience in his own day reinforced both the association and its dangers. From personal experience as well as prophetic inspiration, he warns future generations against such priestcrafts.
