What is the central message of Mormon’s insertion about receiving the Savior’s words?

Thomas R. Valletta

“It is an offense to God when we refuse to receive the words of the Twelve he has called to lead us. … A central message from Christ in 3 Nephi is clear: our Heavenly Father gave his glorious gospel plan to his Son. Jesus gave that same gospel plan, with its true doctrine and ordinances to the twelve disciples; and the twelve disciples, in turn, made the same eternal fulness available to all the Nephite Saints. Through the Twelve all of Israel (Church members) may become one with the God of heaven. This unity and oneness of the Saints is an evidence of the truth of the Lord’s work” (Anderson, “The Twelve,” 157–58).
