“Even So Should Men Be Lifted Up by the Father, to Stand Before Me, to Be Judged of Their Works”
Through the atonement of Jesus Christ, the effects of the fall of Adam are swallowed up in victory. Because Jesus was “lifted up” upon the cross and resurrected by the power of God, all mankind will be “lifted up”—resurrected and brought back into the presence of God to he judged of their works. The “lifting up” of all mankind, spoken of here and also in verse 15, refers to the unconditional and universal redemption from the Fall; in this sense, all men and women are delivered, at least temporarily, from spiritual death, inasmuch as they will be brought before God to be judged (see commentary on Helaman 14:15-18).
