The most sacred things, when given to those worthy of them, are not to be divulged, broadcast, or published to the world. They are the “unspeakable things, which are not lawful to be written.” They are kept from others not because they are mysterious and secret but because they are too sacred to share with the unprepared.
We conclude that this ancient people, who for a longer time than anyone else in all of history (who remained on earth) were able to sustain righteousness and a consecrated lifestyle, enjoyed the fulness of the gospel, with the fulness of the sealing power. The fulness of the everlasting gospel, including the endowment and higher ordinances, cannot be preserved in the written word. The Latter-day Saints are anxious for all people, everywhere, to learn from God’s words in four volumes of scripture, but there are some higher things that cannot be published to the world; they can be obtained when righteous, prepared souls enter the holy temple.
