On the previous day the Lord had given the essentials of the Sermon on the Mount, including the indication that he had not come to destroy the law of Moses (3 Nephi 12:17). In the Bountiful context, Malachi’s statement to remember the law of Moses would have been reinterpreted in the light of the Savior’s discourse of the previous day.
