How does the Lord answer the wicked who think it is foolish to serve Him?

Thomas R. Valletta

“The fact that the wicked often seem to profit and do very well in this life may fill us with questions: ‘Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the Lord of hosts?’ (Malachi 3:14.)

“Yet is it not true that ‘the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment’? (Job 20:5.) The Lord Himself confirmed that those who follow the ways of man have ‘joy in their works [but] for a season.’ (3 Nephi 27:11.)” (Maxwell, Men and Women of Christ, 116–17).
