What comfort flows from this statement—that the children of Israel will be taught of the Lord, bringing great peace unto them (compare Isaiah 54:13). Every parent in Zion, every leader with stewardship over the youth of Israel can rejoice in this glorious promise of a future time when the Lord will instruct us in person. Meanwhile, we can be thankful that His word given through the holy prophets and preserved in the canon of sacred scripture enlightens our souls and prepares us for the millennial era.
“This is the Heritage of the Servants of the Lord”
What is it that the faithful shall look forward to as an inheritance from the Almighty? We are heirs—even “joint-heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:17)—but heirs of what royal endowment? The oath and covenant of the priesthood makes it clear: “And he that receiveth my Father receiveth my Father’s kingdom; therefore all that my Father hath shall be given unto him” (D&C 84:38). What a surpassing blessing! What reason to rejoice and echo the words of Isaiah with the spirit of thanksgiving and endless praise unto the Lord. Through the Book of Mormon we have been given “greater views” (D&C 10:45) upon the gospel of Jesus Christ through the word of the Lord restored in our day.
