Having given Isaiah these words in the first place, the Lord now teaches the concept of establishing the kingdom by comparing it to a large tent. The tent is literally held up and strengthened by the individual stakes. These stakes are the very units of the kingdom throughout the earth. Each stake in the Church is part of the kingdom of God. As members of the Church grow in righteousness and numbers, the tent (the kingdom of God on earth) is enlarged and made stronger. Our duty is to prepare the people and gather the righteous into the Lord’s fold that they might partake of eternal life.
