“The Fulfilling of the Covenant Which the Father Hath Made Unto His People”

George Reynolds, Janne M. Sjodahl

Our Lord begins His address by the assurance that the scattered remnants of the House of Jacob would be gathered in from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and that "The Father hath commanded Me that I should give unto you this land for your inheritance." He next promised that He would establish them in this land, unto the fulfilling of the covenant which I made with your father, Jacob. The Remnant of Jacob, He said, would be among the unrepentant Gentiles, as a lion in the forest or among a flock of sheep.

The Jews will also be gathered. In due time, Jesus says, He will also remember the other scattered remnants of His people, and gather them in the land of their fathers, the Land of Jerusalem. They will receive the Gospel, and then their watchmen will lift up their voices and sing together. Then, He says, shall Jerusalem be inhabited again by My people, and it shall be as the land of their inheritance.
