One responsibility of a covenant people is to be a light to other people (3 Nephi 12:14–16; Isaiah 42:6), and one of the blessings of the covenant is a land inheritance, the right to claim property for an eternal possession. The Americas, the land of Zion, is the Father’s possession to give to others as he sees fit. The scattering and gathering of Israel to their lands of inheritance is the work of the Father (3 Nephi 20:10).
