During his earthly ministry, the Savior taught the people on the eastern continent as follows: "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." (John 10:16.) In teaching the Nephite disciples, the resurrected Jesus Christ relates this teaching on the eastern continent; then he said concerning the Nephites, ". . . ye are they of whom I said: Other sheep I have which are not of this fold." (3 Nephi 15:21.) Thus the appearance of the resurrected Christ to the Nephites at least partially fulfilled his promise that his "other sheep" should hear his voice.
